The River Hill Garden Center is a full service garden center located in Clarksville Maryland, only minutes from both Columbia and Ellicott City. The owners, Steve and Cathy Klein have taken a lot of time and energy to create a place where you can satisfy all of your lawn and garden needs.

Stephen is a native of Howard County who still resides in the county. He has over twenty years experience in the landscape architecture and design business as the owner of Columbia Landscape & Design, a company, which is still in existence today. Over the last twenty years Columbia Landscape and Design has earned a solid reputation performing design work for companies such as; The Rouse Company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and recently even designing and building the Links at Gettysburg golf course. When asked, Steve will tell one of the projects that he is most proud of is the United Machinists Union headquarters. The union chose the Columbia Landscape & Design after researching many different companies. This is significant because they were the only non- union company allowed on the project.

After years in the commercial landscape business, Stephen and Cathy decided to open a retail facility where people who were serious about their homes and gardens could shop and get advise from the experts. With this in mind, they opened the River Hill Garden Center in 1991. The center has a wide variety of products and services and a friendly staff that is always ready to help.

Garden Center ~ The garden center has everything you could ever need to complete even the most adventurous home-landscaping project. From plants and fertilizers, to decorative stepping stones and patio furniture, you can find it here. Even with the wide variety of products available, the biggest advantage to shopping at River Hill is the staff. Steve has seven certified horticulturists on his staff to assist you with any questions you may have. This level of professional assistance is something you won’t find anywhere else in the area. Florist ~ River Hill Garden Center is home to the only seven day a week florist in the area. The shop is located inside the main building and is a full service store.

Gift Shop ~ Also located in the Garden Center is a wonderful gift shop. They carry a wonderful assortment of crafts and gifts for all seasons.

Design Center ~ The River Hill Garden Center is second to none when it comes to professional landscaping service. Steve and his team, which includes certified landscape architects, not just designers, can tackle projects of any size. With decades of experience in the field, they will work with you to make your vision a reality. From the design and planning, to the digging and planting, you won’t find a more capable crew anywhere.

Community Assistance ~ Having been born and raised in Howard County, Mr. Klein has a true and genuine sense of community. He believes in giving back to the people and organizations that have supported him. One project he was proud of was the companies’ corporate partnership with River Hill High School. The company works closely with the faculty and staff to provide support for the school as well as trying to employ a large number of students at all times.
